Lake Simcoe Tour, Kempenfelt Bay
Saturday June 18th 2011

Description

Kempenfelt Bay is bordered with small boathouses with tiny railways and some magnificent houses. We row along the edges of Kempenfelt Bay from the Barrie Rowing Club to the hospitality centre of Georgian College where we will have lunch. The return trip gives us a view of the marinas, houses, parks, and beaches on the other side of the Bay.

Itinerary

Start: Barrie Rowing Club at 10 AM, (boats are already rigged)

There is an 8-12 km (depending on the weather) morning row.

Take-out: a shingle (rounded gravel) beach & grassy area on the south shore

Lunch: Kempenfelt Conference Centre will do lunch for us at a cost of $20 head, tax & gratuity included. The Centre is owned by Georgian College and catered by Georgian "Hospitality" Students. They do a superb buffet with soup, various main course choices, various dessert choices, etc, etc. Eat till you bust, but make sure you can still row in the afternoon! I have been there several times and can attest to the excellence of both meal and presentation.

Put-in: There is an 8 km row after lunch.

Finish: Barrie Rowing Club
