Tay River - Rideau Canal Tour
Saturday June 25th 2011
Description
This tour starts in the historic grey stone town of Perth, proceeds down the narrow Tay River/canal, pass an osprey nest, to a protected marsh with many species of birds. The double Beveridges Locks are next and it is fun locking through. These Locks make a good lunch spot. We proceed to the mouth of the Tay River into Big Rideau Lake. We row through a cut in the marsh and up the winding Rideau River to our take-out point just above Poonamalie Lock Station.
