Enjoy the wonderful fall colours of the Kawartha Lakes and the Trent Severn Canal on the weekend of September 25 – 26, 2021.

Launching from just below Buckhorn Locks on Saturday morning, we’ll lunch at Burleigh Falls.  By the end of the day, we will have rowed through a string of Lakes: Lower Buckhorn, Lovesick, Stoney, Clear, and Katchewanooka; we will have passed through 3 locks; and we will take-out at Lakefield Beach – a distance of about 34 KM with the current.   The Peterborough Rowing Club has graciously offered to host a Bar B Q for us that evening at their large boathouse near Trent University.

On Sunday morning we’ll start from there and pass through the world famous Peterborough Lift Lock, the world’s highest hydraulic lift lock.  After two more locks and Little Lake, we are on the winding Otonabee River.  Today’s row is shorter at about 18 kilometres and we finish at the Squirrel Lake Conservation Area at Wallace Point Bridge (or at an earlier boat ramp) in early to mid afternoon.

Participation is restricted to participants from OAR Clubs1 and independent members of OAR.   COVID guidelines in place at the time must be followed.  You must have received both doses of a COVID vaccine.

Fee: $160 includes two lunches, a BBQ with all the trimmings at the Peterborough Rowing Club, snacks, Parks Canada lock fees, OAR seat fees, and the cost of moving the boats.   Accommodation is NOT included:  each rower will be responsible for their own accommodation2.  Please use interac e-transfer to nstrachan@bell.net to pay your fee at the time of submitting your registration.

Please complete registration form and email to nstrachan@bell.net  by September 3, 2021.  This tour requires a minimum of 2 full quads to proceed.  If that threshold is not reached by September 3, 2021, all money will be refunded.  Assuming that the tour will proceed, more detailed information will be provided to all those who have fully paid their registration fees by September 3, 2021.
