Florida Intracoastal Adventure Tour

February 17 – 24, 2018

Sculling is ideal in Florida in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in February.  High temperatures are usually in the low 20s C (60s to 70s F).  The Waterway is full of dolphins, pelicans, egrets, and other birds.  You can swim on the beaches on the Gulf side of the Keys – the water is in the high teens in Celsius.  Also found on the Gulf beaches are tons of shells and occasionally sharks’ teeth.  We will certainly visit ‘Old Florida’ restaurants where fresh seafood is on order.  This rowing tour is held under the auspices of the Ontario Adventure Rowing Association (www.adventurerowing.ca) and is non-commercial.

The rowing tour is done in touring quad or coastal doubles, ideal to withstand all conditions in the tidal waterway.  We have 5 ½ days of sculling between Sarasota and Placida.  In addition we have a day ‘off’ to explore an inland state park and a beautiful white sand beach.

The cost of seat charges for the boats, transport, lunches, and welcome barbeque is $US 320 or $CDN 400.  This is also the deposit which we expect 90 days in advance (November 17, 2017).  After 60 days in advance the deposit is not refundable (but is transferrable).

An accommodation package for the week at a beach hotel will be offered in early November.  You have until 60 days in advance (December 17, 2017) to pay for this.  Based on last year, we would expect the beach accommodation to be about $US 1,300 — $US 1,400.

Payment in Canadian dollars in via cheque or e-transfer to Richard Vincent or in U.S. dollars via check or Paypal to Bruce Green.
